Who we are

The website is operated by the apeirographer Daïm Aggott-Hönsch in the province of Ontario, Canada.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select "Remember Me", your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Third party analytics for the website are provided by Google Analytics, which collects and stores anonymous website traffic data in order to analyze trends and improve the experience and performance of the website. Google Analytics collects various pieces of common, anonymous information about visitors including partial IP address, the requested domain, the configured name of the visitor's internet provider (if set to be disclosed), the length of time spent on the website, the time of the visit, the list of pages accessed, the website that referred the visitor, the visitor's approximate geographic location based the aforementioned IP address, as well as the technical details about your browser including the operating system and version used.

All aforementioned information is collected and stored by Google, without intermediary handling by this website; the resulting statistical information is, however, manually reviewed from time to time in order to gain a better understanding of the website's audience and how they interact with the content made available hereon.

PayPal is utilized as a payment gateway to enable you to use your PayPal account to purchase products.  Financial information is received, processed, and stored exclusively by PayPal without intermediary handling by our website.

Upon purchasing a work from the artist, unless a preference otherwise is indicated in advance, personally identifying information as available--potentially including name, geographic location (no more precise than municipality), and any provided contact information--will be stored in the artist's non-public registry of works.

This information is used to keep track of the breadth of the artist's works' distribution for disclosure on the website, in the artist's CV, and in other biographical materials, as well as to give the purchaser the option to connect with would-be buyers and organizations seeking loan of the work for exhibition in the event the artist is approached with such requests. However in no circumstances would the purchaser's information from the artist's registry of works be disclosed to any third party without their prior consent.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Personal information associated with purchases in the artist's non-public registry of works is stored indefinitely.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If you do not wish your art purchase recorded with personally identifiable information in the artist's non-public personal registry of works, you can specify that you wish the purchase to be attributed to an anonymous collector; or you may request at any time after the purchase to have your personal details anonymized retroactively in the registry.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Information used by analytics services are gathered via Google Analytics scripts embedded in the website, forwarding relevant anonymous information to Google.
